Rwenzori Mountains National Park gives visitors an opportunity for guided nature walks especially in the central circuit zone. These trails include; trails to Lake Mahooma and Buraco Chimp Forest. You will walk through the communities of Kichwamba to arrive at the Karangura ridge and then hike to Bundibugo.
The communities of Turaco view and Ruboni village also offer guided forest walks of high lengths outside the park. While on this Rwenzori guided nature walk, you will also follow river Mubuku as well as the sight views of baker and portal peaks as they hike up to over 2,300m above sea level. On a clear day, it’s also possible to view the snow-capped Margeherita Peak, which is a great spectacular sight. The Bwamba Pass was built on the way to Fort Portal from the remote town of Bundibugyo. Residents follow the most direct route between these settlements which is 1,500m high over the steep north Rwenzori ridge. The ‘Abanya-Rwenzori’ community group leads you to over the mountain through the hidden mountain villages to visit the bamboo forest and also enjoy great rift views.

Mountain Rwenzori National Park was started in 1991 and then designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. This was because it is one of the world most critical birdlife cordials, in addition to its seclusion and cold weather.
